Kyle Cromer PhD

Assistant Professor, UCSF Department of Surgery

Dr. Kyle Cromer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at UCSF. In his lab, Dr. Cromer combines genome editing tools with high-throughput screening and synthetic biology to engineer novel properties into cells to enhance their therapeutic potential. The lab currently focuses on advancing therapies for red blood cell disorders such as sickle cell disease and thalassemia. However, the synthetic biology and genome engineering tools are disease- and cell type-agnostic, and Dr. Cromer envisions advancing a broad range of cell engineering strategies to patients in the future.
